Question

Assalaamu alaykum. I want to know: if someone quit his job due to the bad deeds (like drinking and abusing others unnecessarily) of his boss, will he be on the right way, or will it be his fault that he has done wrong?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

If someone leaves his job because of seeing his boss at work doing evil deeds, such as drinking alcohol or abusing others without right, then he is right in leaving the job if there is no harm on him in doing so, but he should have enjoined his boss to do good and quit doing evil.

However, if any harm is feared for him due to leaving the job because he needs it and cannot find another job, then he is wrong in leaving it.

Allah knows best.
