Mother Wants Daughter to Travel without Mahram

Question Assalamu alaykum! My mum went to work in Saudi Arabia for a year, and she wants to go back in the future as she likes it there and has made good friends. She asked me to get a qualification and accompany her in the future so that she would not be lonely. I feel pressured as though I may make a mistake and listen to her in things that she tries to encourage me to do, as I feel bad. I avoid going to places that are far away from my town now, but my mum wants me to go to a trip with her on Eid, so I did some research and thought that if it is less than 40 miles, I will go. I know that ...... More

The covenant of 'Umar

When `Umar Ibnul-Khatab, may Allaah be pleased with him, (the second Caliph) entered Jerusalem at the head of a Muslim army in 638CE, he entered the city on foot, as a gesture of humility. There was no bloodshed. On the contrary, those who wanted to leave were allowed to do so with all their possessions and were guaranteed a safe passage. While those who wanted to stay were granted protection for ...... More

The seven under the Shade of Allah Almighty - I

On the Day of Resurrection, all people that ever lived will be gathered before Allah to await His judgment for all they have done of said during their lives. During this time, the sun will come very close to the people (as close as one mile according to some narrations). People will want to get away from the heat of the sun but there will be no Shade or shelter to go to and they will start sweati...... More

A Drowning Man’s Story - I

This is a true story and I witnessed the events myself. I narrate it hoping that it may contain some lessons for whoever wants something that draws him near to Allah The Almighty. Like other young men in secondary school, I was under the pressures of studies and getting good grades, so, I decided, with some of my good and righteous friends, to go to a beach where one of my friends owns a cabana....... The ruling on removing skin or nails in the state of Ihram

Question I read that clipping the nails is one of the violations of Ihraam. If a pilgrim finds that a nail or part of a nail needs to be removed because it hurts or disturbs him, and he removes it, does he incur any sort of compensation? What about removing dead skin which grows besides the fingernails or toenails as well as the dead skin on the heels? Does this require compensation? Please advise. Answer All perfect praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Sl...... More

Humility – A Quality of the Ideal

Allah The Almighty describes the believers in their namesake chapter, Saying (what means): {Indeed, they who are apprehensive from fear of their Lord * And they who believe in the signs of their Lord *And they who do not associate anything with their Lord * And they who give what they give while their hearts are fearful because they will be returning to their Lord.} [Quran 23:57-60] One may wonder...... Stress and Anxiety Due to Worldly Matters

Question Assalamu alaykum. My question is regarding depression, anxiety, and fear. Before I start, let me begin by telling my life story. Ever since first grade, I was a clever student. Everybody appreciated me because I always finished the first from my class until grade 8. My ambition was to be a doctor or an engineer. After grade 9, however, I moved to the Netherlands. In the Netherlands, I did not continue my schooling as I had to learn the language first. The language was the first reason of my depression and anxiety. For me, it was difficult to learn it. Anyhow, I got a diploma for it...... More

Miracles of the Prophets of Islam

Allah The Almighty supported His Prophets with miracles, which are extraordinary events that are usually of the same nature that the people of that particular prophet excelled at. For instance, the people of Prophet Moosa, may Allaah exalt his mention, excelled at magic, so the miracle of Prophet Moosa, may Allaah exalt his mention, was that he threw his staff and it turned to a serpent. Likewise,...... More

Every year, millions of Muslims make the journey of their lifetime. They come from all over the world for the sole purpose of fulfilling one of Allah’s greatest commandments to mankind – the Hajj.
